Is there a possibility that you are using ram doubler, I had the same
problem on a desktop mac using an apple built in Geoport Modem, it seemed to
be that Ram doubler was conflicting with the modem software. Took off ram
doubler and all was hunky dory. The problem with free PPP is in this
situation it appears that it is connecting when really it isn't.
