He has a European dock that requires a special adapter. Someone else on the
list had the same problem last year and eventually found one. They are quite
expensive and rare and may require further adapters once you get one depending
on which country the adapter was originally for. The idea was that Apple made
one connector for the modem to mass produce the docks and then sold adapters
for each country's specific telephone requirements as mandated by law, as
demand dictated.
