Has the copy of HD SC Setup you're using been patched to recognise drives
with no Apple ROM? Open it with Resedit and check the one-byte "wfwr"
resource - if it's 00, it's unpatched (change it to FF if you'd like to fix
that). You need to figure out whether it's the existing driver that's
causing HD SC Setup to balk, or the drive itself. Another way to tell
whether it's an Apple drive is simply to look for the Apple sticker on it,
of course (assuming you've opened up the Duo).
If it's just the presence of the Silverlining driver that's causing your
problem, you can work around that by manually hacking the disk's partition
map with Norton Disk Editor. This can be a bit daunting, as you might
imagine. You might also be able to use another, more flexible tool like an
old version of FWB HD Toolkit to make that driver inactive.
