I just set up a friend with a new Pismo laptop for his personal use. At the
office there is an (original) iMac with IR networking capability. We linked
the two machines today - it was cool!

The way we did it was to set AppleTalk to IR on both machines and do a
traditional AppleShare via the chooser. The problem is that the iMac is
then no longer connected to the Ethernet network and did not have access to
corporate e-mail and the networked printer. The e-mail could wait - but it
would be nice to be able to print.

Questions --

Is there a way to IR link the two machines and keep the iMac on the
Ethernet?

Am I correct in recalling that newer iMacs do not have IR?

And that the original iMac cannot support the AirPort?

Thanks, Dean
