I think it is an epidemic - that sounds like a similar problem to the
one I'm having with my 2400. Sometimes I get the chime and the green
light, sometimes nothing at all.

Here's a list of the possible answers people have suggested so far:

-Dead PRAM battery
-Dead logic board battery (what is the logic board battery - is it
something other than the PRAM battery?)
-Bad I/O board (the technician at MCE seems to think this could be
the problem, even though the same thing happened after he switched
the I/O board)

Mark suggested calling DT&T Service. 800-622-7977. they might be able
to diagnose over the phone, and they are really reasonable and quick
to fix 2400's. I haven't gotten the chance to call them yet, but
when I do I'll let you know if they have any suggestions.
