I would suggest zipping the files.  Try Zipit.  Also, how is he uncompressing 
the files you send him?  Have him try Aladdin's Expander for the PC and/or 
the newest version of WinZip 8.  Do the files have the correct extensions for 
Windows to know what to do with them, such as .xls for Excel?  I occasionally 
get an emailed file on my PC that is junk.  I have been able to add the 
extension .uue (MIME format) and then have WinZip 8 extract my files.
