TidBITS published a good article on cross-platform transfers awhile
back. I don't have the link, but you can do a search at
http://www.tidbits.com
For Excel and Word he'll have to be using at least Office 97 and you
must be using the at least Excel and Word for Mac '98. That was the
first versions that used the same file formats.
Stuffit also has freeware for both the Mac and Win OSs that lets' the
respective users open both .sit and .zip files.
