Yep that sounds horrible. Of course, it's Photodeluxe (a piece of junk if
I ever saw one) you're really complaining about here, not MacOS. Try
downloading with GraphicConverter, it's got batch capabilities. I use
Photoshop with my digi-cam, and it's plug-in (Olympus) allows batch
downloads directly to disk, bypassing the host program entirely. The
plug-in is compatible with GraphicConverter, ColorIt!, and Corel
PhotoPaint, perhaps your camera came with a similar plug-in. And then you
show us some incomprehensible script by way of explaining how easy Linux
is. My Mac does what you want (Jpegs straight to disk, as Jpegs) without
my having to learn a new programming language.

Also am I the only one who never reboots after Netscape crashes? It never
gives me any trouble later either. And why do people complain about
'losing work in other open applications'? Don't you compulsively hit
command-s before leaving work sitting in an unused application? If you
don't you should, and I bet good saving habits are just as beneficial in
Linux.

So, if you love Linux by all means use it. Just don't blame the MacOS for
Photodeluxe's bad manners, on a Mac list of all places.

This rant was meant in a light-hearted, good-natured manner. I'm off to
try installing that free Linux I've got laying around on a partition, to
see what all the fuss is about.
