I appreciate all the interesting feedback on my 2300 "Quirks" queery I
put out last week but I have a feeling that since my sad mac doesn't
occur at every startup (in fact it seems to only occur after an extended
shutdown) I may have a problem with a sluggish hard drive motor. It
normally spins up about 20 sec. after pushing the power key and I
haven't caught it not spinning up coincident with the sad mac yet.
Eventually, I think I'm going to see the sad mac along with the HD not
starting at the normal time. Each time this sad mac sympton occured in
the past, it re-started just fine after shutting down with the reset key.

With all that, I'm thinking about acquiring a replacement HD somewhere &
proactively replacing it before it finally goes tango uniform on me. I'm
fully backed on 5 Zip discs. Will I be able to rebuild my new HD files
using only them plus my startup floppy? Any suggestions on where to get
a replacement 1.2 gig drive? I've got some instructions from Kim
Brennan's site on opening it up & am fairly experienced with this type
of work. Suggestions?
