Jacqueline,
That is a great deal. And it is wonderful to hear someone north of the
border say great things about an Apple provider up there. For a few
years, there was nothing but concern and condemnation about Apple's
apparent disregard for Canadians -- and on a whole, how cool to see the
level of service you get.
In my area of the States, (the South), Apple has been pretty
non-existant. And their corporate policy is difficult for a small
business to accept: they quoted that I would need to carry $250,000 US in
inventory and product, maintain a retail storefront with x footage, and
some other requirements to become an Apple-authorized reseller and
service facility. This, at the time, after Sears sale people are not
trained on the machine ("I don't think it works" from one young man to a
Mac which was in sleep mode and came to life with a tap of the space
bar), CompUSA sales people neglects the few Macs they had in stock (our
local Apple rep actually told me not to expect CompUSA to get me a copy
of OS 9 because they only ordered 3 copies when it was released!) and so
forth. There are some competent stores around, but by and large, the
market appears abandoned save for the occasional TV spots.
But more to the point: that you have a resource up there that knows their
stuff -- excellent!
Now, the bigger mystery is why am I and these other repair facilities
seeing so many blown fuses? What is it about the 2400 design that
predisposes them to being so dang sensitive? Are most folks not plugging
into the wall before they plug into the Mac? Do they have a battery
design flaw? The muses playing more games?
That's what I really want to know.
Cheers, and have a great weekend everyone!
Paul
