Are you running the latest version, 1.0.2? The update is available onthe VV
website.
I think ViaVoice gets faster the longer (or more often) you use it. The
application actually begins to learn how you speak and gets faster. Didyou
read all the training stories? Did you use VV's "Analyze My Documents"
option? This is especially useful if you use technical language or
repeatedly use certain phrases, or even sentences.
See if it is faster with shorter sentences. I think VV's engine usescontext
as well as speech pattern to convert voice to text. I notice it isslower
with longer, compound sentences, with lots of punctuation, longer words,
technical terms, etc. But, again, it picks up your dictation patternsand
gets faster.
I use it mostly for preparing speeches or oral presentations anddrafting
reports. I'm not very fast on the keyboard, so VV is a real help inspecific
situations. VV allows me to concentrate on getting thoughts and ideas"on
paper." I think it is especially powerful as a speech writing tool.Because
they are meant to be spoken, VV helps write more natural speeches andoral
presentations.
I have the same set up you have. I allocated more RAM to the applicationand
switch to a slimmed down extension and control panel set when I dictate.
I use Labtec's LVA7370 collar mike with the Andrea adapter box. The mike
support wraps around your neck and has no earpiece(s). It is quite
comfortable. And it has a mike mute switch and a cord disconnect on alittle
box that clips to your shirt.
