Good for you, Paul! I must have unconsciously read your mind this week. I
just finished spending the last two days downgrading (and tweaking) from Mac
OS 7.6.1 to System 7.1.2 on my Duo 230. I don't know whatever possessed me
to install 7.6.1 on that poor eight-year old PowerBook. What a huge
difference in performance in ClarisWorks, Netscape, Fetch, all apps really.
Don't get me wrong -- 7.6.1 was one of Apple's better OS releases, just not
necessarily a speedy one for 68030 PowerBooks. My trusty Duo 230 seems to
have breathed a sigh of relief the last couple of days after trying to
shoulder that behemoth OS for the past year and half! For all of you Duo 230
thru 280 owners, don't write off System 7.1.x just yet...it's probably more
stable than 7.6, and certainly LOTS faster. My humble opinion....
