This whole Mac-PC debate really misses one important point: PCs and
Macs have becoming cheaper over the last few years.
As recently as ten years ago, computers cost as much as compact cars.
Today they cost about as much as a good car stereo: so what's the point
of the discussion?
If, like me, you find that Macs have strong points, get one, or better
yet get several of different vintages, and if like me, you have a reason
to also have a PC, then for goodness sakes get one too. There's no
reason to deprive yourself of what you percieve to be each platforms
advantages for philosophical or ideological reasons.
Many people have two or even three vehicles: A Van or SUV, a compact
grocery shopping car, and sometimes, a scooter or motorcycle. Heck, if
people can afford multiple kinds of vehicles, then there's no problem
getting a second or even third computer running a different OS.
Many of us already have multiple computing platforms: A digital
cellphone, a laptop, a palmtop, a desktop, so what's the big deal? Put
two computers on your desk: a Mac and a PC, or two laptops in your bag
when you need to. Either option will cost you less than what one of
each computer would have cost you as recently as five years ago.
