Ken,
I had an 8 gig IBM drive in my 300 MHz wallstreet, and the drives were
sensitive to heating. (or should I say overheating, since you can fry an
egg on the wallstreet if you run it all day) When you got the drive too hot,
it would become more noisy, and the more heat and the more time that when
by, I got so bad I hard to have it replaced under warranty. I went through 2
IBM drives in 9 months, then I replaced it with a 6 gig toshiba drive, and
was much happier. The toshiba drives are quiter even than a new ibm drive.
I highly recommend the toshiba drives.
