I have just discovered that telling LJ to send me an email alert when particularfriend posts something will get me alerts for flocked posts by particularfriend, who does not have me on their friend list. (Color me severely annoyed, because the subject line makes it sound like a fascinating post.) Is this on the list of things to fix for DW?
