Hi guys! Afuna and I are coordinating the S2 stuff, so I wanted to clarify some things from Denise's earlier email.
Our main goals for the S2 styles are to make sure that all the styles we're using will: * Support all features (such as showing tags, tracking threads) * Have predictable placement for the wizard options (so that users can find them easily) * Be CSS-styled (well-classed, no tables; be accessible and easy to fiddle with) To accomplish this, we need to do a fair bit of overhauling. The advantage of that is that we'll end up with a whole bunch of styles that are easier to maintain, without breaking people's existing themes, which has been a worry for LiveJournal developers. The disadvantage is that because we're going to break the themes beforehand, it's not going to be easy for people to just plop what they were using on LiveJournal into Dreamwidth. Therefore, making the user experience awesome is a high priority. > > GRAPHIC DESIGN (themes): > We most definitely want people working on the themes. Feel free to write specs , make mock-ups, and play with images. However, don't start looking at CSS and other theme-specific code just yet! Add yourself to the Who page - http://dreamwidth.cometheapocalypse.com/notes/Who - and we'll contact you as soon as we have files for you to work with. > > GRAPHIC DESIGN (styles): > If you want to contribute a new layout or to work on an old one, please put yourself on the Who page - http://dreamwidth.cometheapocalypse.com/notes/Who - and email me if you want to get put to work sooner rather than later. We'll put your layout in the queue for conversion or provide you with the technical aspects of meeting our goals. There's a S2 Style info page - http://dreamwidth.cometheapocalypse.com/notes/S2_Styles - that basically says what I just said above. But it will get updated as we have a better idea as to how to present information Abby _______________________________________________ dw-discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.dwscoalition.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/dw-discuss
