When we actually have V-gifts, we can look at the appropriate changes
to the system to make it useful for DW.

There's a careful line here, though. We want to keep the site open
enough to encourage community and people interacting - even if it
might mean that every once in a while there's a bad interaction. To
go the other way, to close everything down and put people in little
cages is to deny a lot of the potential for growth and overlap and
interesting social interactions and etc etc etc.

In this case, I agree with you, and think that implementing "who can
send me a v-gift" as an option would be just fine. But in the general
case, let's not be so quick to jump on board with "I should never,
ever be offended." The Internet, the world, is going to offend you -
and DW does not have a goal of protecting you from it. We will
provide the tools to prevent most of the abuses, but people will
*always* come up with new ways to bother you. It's an arms race, and
not one I'm particular interested in fighting.

I'd rather spend my time developing features that people actually will
use to *create* and *build* a vibrant community (with the occasional
rough edge) than spend all of my energy inventing ways to stop the
latest troll tactics. Does that make sense?
