We have not changed $LJ::END_OF_TIME, so yes, that's still the end.

It will be easier to deal with, sure, but I'm sure we're not ready for it now.

Well, time=0 is still 1970-something, the epoch time doesn't change
simply because we opened up time_t to 64 bit...  (Although, maybe
there's some spec that remaps the time when you move to 64 bit, and I
don't know about it.  Suppose that's possible.)
