Hi! I'm sort-of new (have been watching the list, but only now jumping in to
speak), and I wanted to say that I like Chasy's idea, and here's why:

I use my LJ for both fandom and RL posts. At the moment, my fandom posts
(episode reactions, fanfiction, etc.) are public and my RL posts are
friends-only. However, that's probably going to change in May or June. I'm
still in school, and this summer and next fall, I'm going to be traveling -
interning in the summer and studying abroad during the fall semester. I'm
planning to use my LJ as my blog, so my family and RL friends (and
professors) know what's going on with me. The majority of people I know in
RL, don't know about my fandom activities, and I'd rather them not find out.

I'd like there to be a way to lock my fandom posts to *only* LJers or
Dreamwidthers and leave my traveling posts public. That way, my friends and
family can see my travel posts, but not the fandom ones (unless they were to
decide to set up their own account - which is unlikely), while people who
have me on their "watch" list but who I have not trusted back can see my
fandom posts.

I know that setting up a second journal is really the safest way to do this,
but I also want my LJ/DW friends to be able to see my travel posts without
the hassle of having to friend the extra journal and remember, "Oh, that's
theladyscribe's travel journal!" (And without the hassle of me having to
log-in/log-out every time I want to post something.)

Also, one last thing: would it be possible to set this sort of filter up for
a *community* rather than for journals? IE, someone has a fanfic community
and they want it to be available for DW users but not for the public at
large.
