There are RSS tags for where comments on a post are. Would it be possible for DW to use these to redirect all comments to that place?
i.e. when you click on the "leave a comment" link it's actually a redirect to that location, rather than a comment thread on DW? That way seems more suitable for dealing with federation properly - so that RSS feeds from other journaling sites get all their comments in the one place, rather than them being spread over 500 different sites...
