All I know is after updating to 9.0.5 the keying was reversed. No
changes were made to WInkey firmware (30.10) initially after the
update, Winkey continued to function correctly with other programs
(N1MM). I then updated the winkey firmware to its latest version (31.02)
and the keying continued to be reversed.
Once I uninstalled DX4WIN completely and then reinstalled it 9.0.3. I
then changed the Winley back to 30.10 so it would talk to 9.0.3 since
Winkey 31.02 does not work with DX4WIN 9.0.3. THEN I updated 9.0.3 to
9.0.5 and Winkey 30.10 was working correctly with 9.0.5. Then I once
again updated WINKey to 31.02 and that now works with 9.0.5. as well
This is a dedicated ( to the ham station) PC, running WIN-10 PRO / on
Intel I7-8700K with 32GB of Ram. Radio is a Kenwood TS990 to the PC via
the standard old fashioned COM port ( not the USB port) at 115200 Baud.
I did try switching over to the USB COM port but the the keying was
still reversed
What happened with the reversal is any ones guess. No other programs
were changed or added during the week ( other than Micro Squash doing
their @#$!&%$ updates). As you noted in another email no one else had
the problem. In fact after talking to other users with similar set ups
and they did not have the problem is what prompted me to do a clean
reinstall

Dave,
So glad Winkey works for you now.
However, I want to get two misconceptions out of the way:
1. When DX4WIN starts, there is an internal checksum calculation to see
that the executable has not been changed. If it has been changed or
downloaded
incorrectly, you will see a message saying that the executable is
corrupt; clicking Ok
will terminate the program.
2. DX4WIN communicates with Winkey using ASCI text, not dots and dashes.
So reversing dots and dashes happened after the text is sent to the keyer.
I thank Steve, K1EL, for helping me figure out the change to
initialization
sequence for Winkey so it is compatible with old and new firmware.

Originally the latest version of WINKEY (firmware 31.02) would not
work
with DX4WIN 9.03. The near term solution was to down-rev the
firmware in
WINKEY to 30.10 which at least worked with 9.0.3
When Paul released his latest set of changes fo DX4WIN (9.0.5)
this was
on the laundry list of things that were fixed. I upgraded to DX4WIN
9.0.5 which as I reported a week ago now recognized WINKEY but the CW
was reversed ( dashes sent for dots and vice versa) .
Finally Steve at WINKEY yesterday download a copy of the new
DX4WIN and
reported back to me that it played flawlessly there ..... Hmmmmm
On a hunch I uninstalled DX4WIN and did a fresh install. Voilà !
problem
solved and CW was coming out the correct way . Apparently the
upgrade to
9.0.5 went astray though no errors were reported.
I guess the lesson learned if your the only one seeing a problem
that no
one else has try a clean ire-install.
Cheers
