Jack, USB port can be expanded much cheaper than Serial ports USB hubs (makes 4 usb ports out of one) can be had for about $20.00 and a USB to Serial Hub is more than $100.00 and besides that, DXBase doesn't seem to work with a USB to Serial hub. This would be a good thing to add to the next version "Support for Windows serial ports" I have a RocketPort USB to Serial Hub and can not use it for DXBase CW. I know the port can be used to key CW to the rig because I can run a little utility program from Comtrol (the maker of this USB to Serial Hub) and I can key the correct lines to make the rig send CW.
