I believe Dxbase is purposely designed to not overwrite the operating
systems HOST file during installation. I certainly would not want it to
overwrite my operating system's HOSTS file.

You need to find the HOST file that Dxbase installed in its directory;
open it and copy the contents of that file.

Locate the operating system's HOSTS file and paste Dxbase's HOSTS file
contents that you copied into it.....

You can search on HOSTS to find that file. If you can not open the file
by double clicking it, use NotePad to open the file.....

PS - This is explained in DXBase's Help files.

Sounds like something got goofed up. But...
The hosts file that is installed when you install DXB2002 also has a
copy placed into the DXB2002 directory. At least all mine have. Use
Windows explorer and compare the size of the Host file in DXB2002
directory to the one that SHOULD have been installed in:
Windows, System32, Drivers, etc. (etc is the name of the subdirectory
under Drivers)
You will also notice that the name of the file is Hosts and does NOT
have a .txt or any other suffix. If they appear different in size and
properties, I would make a copy for safekeeping and then use copy/paste
to grab the latest one in the DXB2002 directory and place it in the
'etc' subdirectory.

Under File, Modify Host file, this action ONLY modifies the Host file in
the etc subdirectory and NOT the original placed in the DXB2002
directory. At least as far as I can determine.

Hope this helps.
