The only concern with the cable (since they don't make 30 ga shielded--or at
least it's hard to find anything that lighter than 24 ga--although 30 ga
would work fine) is with shielding for RF.  Most of us can't keep our
antennas 100 feet away from the shack, which would also reduce computer
noise pickup as well.  RS232 is a very slow waveform, even at 38,400.  TTL
on the other hand has fast rise and fall times and line length becomes an
issue as you already observed.

I am pretty sure you will be able to correct your radio control problems by
lengthening the delays in the radios.in file as we have talked about.

I hope that the radio manufacturers will take the control issues more
seriously in the future as computer control is becoming more popular all the
time.
