Those files are not needed by XP, so it does not use them.  Simple as that.
Finding out these things is a great way to get the "bugs" out of software.
That is what a forum is for.

After the post by James Samuels I copied the DriverX.vxd and DriverX.sys
from the directory where DXBase is installed (E:/DXB) to the
Windows/System32/Drivers directory and rebooted.

CW is restored...
