Steve, Two possibilities come to mind. One is that you do not have the required entries in the registry. This is explained in detail in the DXbase help file. Without the right entries, the drivers will not be used. The second issue may be a comport conflict. Com1 and Com3 usually share the same IRQ. It may be that there is an issue here but can't be sure without sitting at your machine and doing some testing.
