Thanks Clark, That was the problem. I actually started turning things off the last = night and found that when I turned the "announce" off, the problem went away. = I'm not sure if I have it turned on in my old 2003 version, but it didn't exhibit the same problem. Without the speakers I didn't notice that the announce was on and certainly have no reason to have it enabled.
I guess that the "announce feature" must use up a lot of the resources = of the computer because it would crash in no time. I guess my rule of thumb will be to keep the announce feature turned off.
