Thanks for the info from everybody. I will look for a copy of Access 97, but if I can't find one, I'll try a newer version (on a copy of the logbook mdb, of course!).

If you have DXBase open when you make changes in the database with Access 2000, the changes *are* made. At least with DXB2004, it worked that way for me. As always, back up, back up, back up....
