Thanks for the replies. I'm running Win98SE and had wondered about
settings causing this. I got KT4AC to check it on his computer (also running
98) and he had the same results so at that point I ASSUMED - that word got me
again.
Does anyone know where to change the settings in W98SE for this
'downloading as a Web page' problem?

In Windows Explorer, under TOOLS menu|FOLDER OPTIONS|FILE TYPES tab,
locate the listing for the file type being downloaded. Click ADVANCED and
put a checkmark in the box that reads "Confirm open after download."
An alternative: Hold down the <shift> key when clicking the link to the file.
