Per chance did you attempt to run DXBase after copying it back from your CD?
Did it fail to start? Look in your task manager under the Processes tab
(click on the heading Image Name and it will sort for you) and see if it's
still listed. If it is you can't change the files attribute. Just in case
you don't know how to access the Task manager in WinXP, right click you
mouse on the Task bar. That is the only thing I can think of.

Subject: [Dxbase] XP and READ ONLY

Since several replied to this I better put my comment back on the reflector.
I've been backing up my database to a CD using my writer. Be assured that
on WIN98 SE you can very easily update a new installation to your current
log from a CD. Yes - the files will be read only but in WIN98 you can
REMOVE the READ ONLY attributes. Actually I normally just go to the DOS
prompt and do it very quickly. My question is why can't I change the READ
ONLY ATTRIBUTE when I right click on properties on the DXB2005 folder? The
attribute shows that it removes but it lies. Hope I'm not confusing
everybody and if any body knows how to change the read only attribute the
inf would be much appreciated.
       Thanks, Sandy W4DUP
