Bob - I also use DXAtlas and got some help from those folks. Under DXBase 2004 I can enter + signs. I think you need to make the change NOT in the DXINFO window but by pulling down the menu item "TOOLS/OPTIONS/USER OPTIONS/GENERAL tab and enter your lat and long there. Then you can save the numbers ok. The key thing to remember about lat and long under DXBase is that for your home QTH of 74 deg 30 min you cannot enter 74.30 in DXBase. You must use decimal degrees.
+74 deg 30 min (DXAtlas) = +74.50 (DXBase). Otherwise your home gets moved a few miles and your wife will complain she can't find the driveway anymore! I have not been able to get my sunset shadow settings to be saved when DXBase launches DXAtlas. If I launch DXAtlas standalone the darker greyline shading is used. Under DXBase the lighter default shading is used. I suspect it's a matter of putting a config file in the correct folder. I use DXBase with my Ten-Tec Orion... the radio jumps to spots by just clicking on them...pretty cool feature.
