I am pretty much in the K6RIM camp. Frankly I like DXBase 2007. Actually the only reason I changed from 2006 is because I wanted to support DXBase because the 2006 version was also just fine. I have been using DXBase since the DOS days and have purchased all of the new versions as they have come out. I don't have a clue what it means to have floating windows.
My wish is that the program continue to support the excellent features that it currently has. The QSLing function is worth its weight in gold to me. I like to see the various things that are running all at the same time like the packet window and the updating of the other windows automatically. I hope that I don't have to go through a bunch of relearning of a "new program"...I know I am old and suffering from hardening of the brain cells, but I use DXBase to work DX, I don't want a new toy to play with! I upgraded to Office 2007 from 2003 and was very unhappy to find that everything had been moved and looked different...I am still looking for things! If I have to relearn a brand new program, why not just move to something else? If the user GUI is significantly changed from Jack's design concept, you risk losing the "base" of DXBase. Perhaps you don't care, and maybe you can create an even better mousetrap .. but be aware of the importance of the existing GUI to a significant portion of the loyal users. I believe that a significant portion of the loyal DXBase users feel the same way; otherwise, they would have abandoned DXBase after Jack discontinued its development years ago. Personally, I'm happy with the program as is, although I would like to see implementation of a band map (similar to Writelog) and a more seamless way to access LOTW. If your changes to DXBase continue the excellent existing GUI and otherwise enhance the program, I will be with you. If not, I will stay with DXBase 2007, which was way ahead of its time. 73, Al, K6RIM ______________________________________________________________ Dxbase mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dxbase Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html ______________________________________________________________ Dxbase mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dxbase Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
