Joe and Neal, Just did a fresh install on DXBase2007 on my new computer with Windows 8.1 preinstalled. As expected, the Help would not run. So I clicked on the link provided, downloaded the Windows 8.1 version of the winhlp32.exe file (920kb file), and ran it. Help works perfectly now.
73's de Jim, KJ3L Sent from Windows Mail From: Joe Glockner Sent: Friday, March 20, 2015 9:47 PM To: [email protected] I was hoping that the method we found that would help the problem with the HELP FILES not working -- would also work properly on a Windows 8.1/64bit ... But, after working with Earl N5ZM this evening - it appears that it WILL NOT work the same on a Windows 8.1/64bit system.. Earl's Winhlp32.exe is the small 10KB-- and even when we delete it via the Control Panel - using the routine we working with earlier tonight - when we download the Proper Winhlp32.exe for Windows 8.1 64 bit -- it DOES NOT update to the proper filesize.. So, I don't know if this is something unique to Earl's computer or not.. IF any other DXbase user is running Windows 8.1 / 64bit and you ALSO have the small Winhlp32.exe file (10 KB) -- have you tried to use the routine from tonight and had YOUR computer update correctly.. Neal - It appears that Windows 8.1/64bit might NOT work as we had hoped.. 73 Joe WA6AXE ______________________________________________________________ Dxbase mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dxbase Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html ______________________________________________________________ Dxbase mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dxbase Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
