I just got the DXbase help working on this 64 bit win 8.1 laptop. I looked at the winhlp32.exe file size and saw that it was ~10k. I uninstalled updates KB917607 (no time at all) and KB3000850 (couple minutes) then reinstalled KB917607. All is well with this computer. Next time I have a chance I will do the same with the Win7 computers.
There is joy in mudville this afternoon. Actually no mud since everything is either frozen, covered with snow or both.
