You're right. However, there are still online lotteries which are
maintained by that sort of advertising since years ago. How do you explain
their success?

Your argument is especially valid in countries where the dial-up
connection minute is more expensive. So I ask now: How many of you would
spend 0.11 AUG to make a bet, for a 1:100 chance to win 9 AUG?

In that case, the raffle would close with (0.11 bet price - 0.01 e-gold
fee) * 100 bets = 10 AUG. Of which I could take 1 AUG (Not even enough for
advertising the site). And the prize would be only 9 AUG ($76.68). Do you
really think that's an attractive prize?
