No need to have an account. Is this a good argument?
No, not really. I wouldn't accept I$ in an exchange of value, whether having them required an account or not.
Someone once sent me a check payable to Cambist for $16,000. Very cursory examination of the item made it clear to me that it was fraudulent, but as we don't accept personal checks for any exchange, it wasn't going anywhere. Counting all such checks rejected, we've avoided about $100K of fraud.
No clearing knowledge of the deal. Is this a good argument?
You'd have to give me more than six words to get me to understand the argument. Why would I want a deal if I had no knowledge of it? It isn't a deal unless it is entered knowingly.

I think if internetdollar had a gold-backed
Not exactly. I don't care for the term "backed" because I don't view its meaning as universal. I would be extremely interested in a gold redemption feature of any currency. If a currency may be redeemed for gold, silver, or other precious metal, it interests me.
e-gold would be more than glad to store your metal.
As you do for 1MDC.
I suspect Jim considers all dollars a necessary evil,
No, I consider them evil, and not necessary. They are, however, expedient, and therefore I make use of them.
and therefore he'd object to your currency's dollar-backing
No, I don't object to any free market money. If Arik wants his money to be equivalent to dollars, that's his choice. I simply won't exchange it.
Cambist.net policy is to exchange gold for dollars or dollars for gold. We don't exchange dollars for dollars, ever. We don't exchange dollars for dollar equivalents, either. We're happy to change euros into gold, gold into euros. But, we don't ever change euros into dollars. It is not part of our deal.
(he may think that his bankers can have his only stake in that currency).
I, personally, have no bankers. In general, I despise bankers to the extent that I don't mock them. However, people I work with do have bank relationships, and seem to get along with them. Wonders never cease.
