An interesting bunch of conversations on the list, for sure.
With regard to Privacity.com, I have a customer in Oregon who ordered one of their cards and never received it. The story, which so far is the only thing they have gotten, is that the courier packet the card was in was signed for by someone who does not work at their company. I'd certainly like to hear from anyone who has actually received a Privacity.com card, at which time I'll check the headers to see which iCafe was visited for the purpose. <smirk> It is too bad, too, because that particular customer has a network of tens of thousands of prospects who would each have been offered a MasterCard. It is frankly good to see that the link to Cambist.net which used to appear on the Privacity.com home page has been taken down, and that we aren't in their directory of exchangers.
With regard to the dialog between Dr. Ron Paul, US Congressman from Texas, and Mr. Alan Greenspan, gnome in charge of the Feral Reserveless Scheme, I was really impressed with Alan's comment to the effect that any country which thinks tying their currency to gold provides adequate stability can just ditch the International Monetary Fund. That seems very much in line with what he's written and said elsewhere about gold being a means to provide needed discipline in currency matters.
Frankly, I think it high time that the Internationalist-Socialist Monetary Fund be destroyed. The first step would be to eliminate all funding from the USA. (The decision tree branches incredibly here. ;-) It has done nothing good, ever, and has destroyed many economies.
I was extremely impressed by the exchanges between JP May and "Paris Hayes" of Cafe Collectibles. I suggest they get a room. <grin>
I want to say that I think Gordon H. has done an outstanding thing here. If he's hired a pretty brunette 22 year old named Paris Hayes, so much the better. If he's simply conjured an avatar or persona who can only be reached via e-mail he has, at the very least, dramatically improved the apparent male:female ratio on this discussion list. Kudos either way.
Nor will I necessarily believe any differently if a phone number is provided. I will, however, be in Tucson for a conference in October. So, he has until then to produce the real thing, or a reasonable facsimile thereof.
Meanwhile, there is a clear need for collectible portraits of Paris Hayes. Maybe one of those playing card decks like I have of Marilyn, Farrah, Raquel, Uma, et al.
Plus, sadly, my attempt to buy something on the CafeCollectibles site did not reach payment options, so I have no idea if they accept e-gold or one of the other digital gold currencies.
There's always room for more kitsch.
Regards,
Jim http://cambist.net/ -> exchange at rates that are better than "the best"!
