Dear Jim

The "100% back by gold" is in the banners of E-gold. It is their welcome
message.

>Redemption should mean

I think that "should" says it all! In the case of E-gold "redemption =
exchange" because the value is the same in both cases (of course, I have no
proof that the gold really covers 100% of the egold). In the case the
Federal Reserve Note " redemption NOT = exchange" since, as you say,
redemption means 32000 USD/XAU and exchange means 350 USD/XAU.

The rest of the conversation is not important anymore since only value
*anchored* to the gold's value can be considered redeemable, the rest being
only exchangeable.

> Of course, it is possible to say that egold is and also isn't gold.

I said that because you can exchange your egold for various precious metals
or for currencies. If it were only possible to redeem egold for gold, then I
would have said "egold = gold". But it's not the case.

>> until some laws will regulate electronic currencies...

> The free market is self-regulating. Government interference with the free
market is perversion, not regulation.

Of course, but any government *can* indirectly interfere with a free market
by forbidding its citizens to be a part of it. So, I am not mistaken, I am
being realistic. Any government can say "you can't use electronic
currencies, else you could go to prison". As long as there is no law to
regulate electronic currencies, I can use them as I use any other valuable,
but if there would be such a law, I would have to follow it or move to
another country (which ain't that easy... for now).
