Thanks. This is precisely our need: to support features or fix bugs without
needing to update the kernel (which we must keep stable long term).

Re pluggable modules: other vendors make such NICs with Intel components
(e.g. I350 based) and SFP PHY. Those need support in igb or they will not
function correctly (which is what we're experiencing now).
Will you entertain patches towards that end, if contributed by the third
party? (Self maintenance of such patches will not scale, and will prevent
those patches from bubbling into other platforms and embedded stuff, e,g.
server firmware such as BMC/RMM, iLO, iDRAC and whatnot).
What would be the recommended course of action?
