hi. I agre with some of your points but I think that overall.... IntelliJ intends the local CVS to be a better file backup system. It replaceses my super simple system of copying files to datestamped folders. It does NOT replace a a full blown Version Controll System. You can get that for free with CVS and it's really easy to set-up... You can run ity locally on your same box and make sure your repository is on an other drive or a network share. That way you really protect and version controll.
It's sort of like a saving throw. You havn't check-in the million changes you made in the last day and need to go back to the state things were at before you had the bright idea to completely re-think a class!
