I mean it's just a question of changing (shortening) the text of the tabs.
It's not that much work. No need to change the JTabbedPane's look'n feel.

By the way, I seize the opportunity to request once more another file tab
improvement:
it would be really great if one could re-order the tabs with drag'n drop.

I don't like when the file tabs are layed out on several raws, it eats my
screen real-estate.
That's why I use the single line option. But when it's a single line, we'd
like to see more file tabs.
This is the reason why we'd like to modify a bit the length of the tabs in a
way or another.
But, if I could move around the tabs by simply dragging them, I wouldnt care
anymore that I sometimes have to scroll to see the other files. All the
files I'm currently working on would be grouped in the same place.
It would be really convenient to layout those currently used files as the
user wishes.

So:
- shorter names for the file tabs that are further than the current editor
- AND file tab reordering

I think all my wishes (and complaints) would be fulfilled :o)
