Dear Hans,

I hope you live near Eichst=E4tt because there's (literally?) a ton of mandora
music in the Universit=E4tsbibliothek. One authority on this repertory is
Dieter Kirsch at the University of Wurzburg. He has an article with a list of
the manuscripts in "Musik fur Mandora in der Universit=E4tsbibliothek
Eichst=E4tt," Sammelblatt Historischer Verein Eichst=E4att 86 (1993): 85-102.

Zinck (I misspelled his name) was a court musician in that city.

Pietro Proesser (sp??) has an article on Federico Marincola's web page, but I
haven't read it yet.

Good luck!! And let us know what you discover. (Lots of mandora music in
Kremsmunster, too.)

arthur.

  Hello Arthur,

I am a reader of the Lutelist, I play baroque Lute, but mainly focused on
  the early guitar.

Do you know more examples of sources "fuer Guitare oder Mandora" ?

And do you know where I can find the Joseph Zink music?

  Thanks,

  Hans

gallichon. And I really think one needs to look at music for mandoras to
find the roots of early guitar music. Even the emphases on opera variations
and potpourris is similar. Some of the sources even state "fuer Guitare
oder Mandora." My favorite, "2 Arien Aus der Oper Sultan Wampum oder Die
Wuensch fuer die Mandora. Arrangiert von Joseph Zink.
