Hi Paul,

As fas as I know, Sor played without nails.  I gather from reading  
about his right-hand technique that it was somewhat similar to the  
thumb-out Baroque lute technique.  It would be possible to pluck the  
guitar strings as you would pluck lute strings, and still be able to  
have short fingernails.  But I'm not sure what you mean by the "hobo  
effect."  Can you describe what that is?
