I would suspect that IBM did the SAVLIB with the data compression option specified.  I always use that when shipping save files to customers and the percentage size reduction you quote matches my experiences of the size reduction by using that option.

Subject: [Easy400Group] Size differences between "old" and "new" cgidev2.sav

This may have been addressed by the group already and I simply missed it.  I downloaded a “new” version of CGIDEV2 from IBM today and noticed a difference between previous downloads and this one:

For example:

Download from old Easy/400 site on December 5, 2003:

cgidev2.sav      35,335 kb   11/27/2003

Download from old Easy/400 site on July 20 2005:

cgidev2.sav      39,930 kb   5/23/2005

Download from IBM CTC on November 18, 2005:

cgidev2.sav      12,407 kb   7/28/2005

How come the one from IBM CTC is so much smaller?  What’s not in the new download that was in the old one?  Or is compression of some kind now being used, and if so, have there been any issues with it so far?
