In a strictly RPG world RPG/400 does perform better technically, but why someone would want to cripple themselves for the sake of performance on a limited application is beyond me.

RPG IV aka ILE RPG.  But "performance" in this respect should be about the
last reason on earth to choose one over the other.

RPG/400 is obsolete.  It hasn't been updated in over 10 years and never will
be.
RPG IV is updated with each release and has many more features than RPG/400.

Why on earth would anyone continue to use RPG/400?
