I'd like to point out that many people with expensive educations, college
educations, etc. ARE NOT paid anywhere near what they paid for their
educations. Just for my undergrad work, I would have to work 3 years at my
job to make as much as it cost for 3 years of college (thankfully I had
financial aid for college).
Plus, my husband and I have friends with Ph.D's who make less than $30,000 a
year. These days I don't think anyone gets paid what they are worth because
there is such a glut of workers in the job market.
If I didn't have my college loans, etc. to worry about I'd be tempted to just
do volunteer work -- that way I could do something I find worthwhile,
interesting, etc.
Furthermore, I feel that I am paid less because I am a woman -- The owner of
our publishing company is on a trend of hiring ONLY women -- and at a low
rate of compensation.
I guess my point is -- these days if you get an education, get it because you
want to learn something, not because you want the almightly dollar.
