Has anyone thought about the idea of having colleges that "RENT" computers to their
students? It could be a
very nominal fee tacked on to tuition charges, maybe $100 a year or whatever. The
computers would pay for
themselves after a few years and it seems to me that colleges get an "educational"
discount. At least, the
university I go to has deep discounts on mac's at the bookstore.
Also whoever said that we need to cut government funding -- The last place we need to
cut funding is
education! Even with a job, many students cannot afford college without some kind of
help. When I was an
undergrad, I had a full tuition scholarship and still had to work 50+ hours at three
jobs just to pay for my living
expenses -- that was with some loan money too. Plus, in case you haven't noticed
lately, it's pretty *darn* hard
to get a job without a college education.
My two cents,
Mary
