Both are problems. They go hand in hand.

Agreed.

Perhaps you miss the point: growth, profit and financial prosperity are
always at the COST of our EARTH. The present economy is designed so that
it needs to continually grow in order to survive. This is why recycling,
reusable, user-servicable goods and so on are discouraged, and
everything is made to be disposable, not to last - so that people will
go out and buy more things and keep the economy growing. The earth has
finite resources and cannot support this procedure indefinitely.
Continual economic growth=continual production of unnecessary
items=resource depletion=the earth.

Get rich and making a lot of money is always at the expense of others
and our Earth.

A new economy needs to be adopted which does not elevate the
accumulation of money to the only worthwhile goal, it is true.

And I would add to that, lack of common sense.
