comedian last night - he was saying "Now that we have a Bill of Rights - we
should have a corresponding Bill of Responsibilities" I laughed myself off my
loveseat! His example "you have a right to bring a child on a plane - you in
correspondence have a responsbility not to let the child scream on the plane."

I was thinking about environmental rights/responsibilities:
For example: A lumber company has the right to cut down the trees it owns on
the property it owns - However, that lumber company has a responsibility not
to cut them down to preserve the ecosystem and the homes for the forest
animals.
try to tell that 2nd part to most of the lumber companies operating today &
they'll laugh you out of the forest. the only reason they don't cut down all
the trees has nothing to do with anything remotely resembling
environmentalism. It's all profit. If they cut down all the trees then there
won't be any left to cut down later just like with fishing, if you take all
the fish from the waters then there won't be anymore when you want more later.
Most of the problem with this planet is that most people don't want to see the
responsibility that comes with having rights or having anything else for that
matter.
I came up with many examples!
I agree with the comedian - we need a Bill of Responsibilities - But if we are
responsible to life - Why? I say we are because we are co-creations! By
virtue of springing from the same realm of creation - God being the
Creator/Lord. Now BB how would you answer the question here - Why would the
Goddess want us to be responsbile for life?
BB incedentally stands for Blessed Be. She would want us to be responsible
for the life of this planet because that's what she created us to do, be the
caretakers of this planet. This is not dominion over the planet as in the
bible but guardianship & nuturing of the life of this planet.
The reason I think the Earth is not a Goddess/deity - because the Earth is
affected by the moon and the sun - why would a deity be? I have no problem
referring to the Earth as motherly or feminine in nature but not deity. To me
Earth is sustaining LIFE - the SEED gives Life - the gift of God.
Why wouldn't a diety be effected by other things? Your own god was effected
by the actions of his followers to flood the entire planet at one point at
least supposedly he did that or so he claims but his is certainly not the only
divine flood story. We are effected by other things that happen & other
things other people do. If these other objects in our galaxy are also of
divine essence than of course they would have the power to effect otherr
dieties in the universe. everything in the universe no matter what it's
essence is, is effected by everything else in the universe, it is all
interconnected & dependant on each other. It would be a mighty confusing
chaotic place if it weren't. In the old Adam & Eve story of the Garden of
Eden, they are cast out of the Garden because your god was effected by
something they did, he wouldn't have taken the action he did if he wasn't
effected by them. Then their is the old question about whether gods would
even exist without our belief in them.
