Hi Beth Try Ethovision from Noldus Technology (www.noldus.com). It digitises the image of the animals on screen and can certainly track location and speed very well (works well for mice filmed from 8-10 feet above). Not sure about distances between two subjects but I suspect it can. Best thing to do is contact your local specialist (from the website), I know that the UK resellers are very helpful with tips on setup. Its very pricey though - maybe convince your dept head that its an invaluable asset!
Otherwise, if you know the length of each subject in each trial, can you not pause the movie and use fish-lengths as a means of measuring attack distance (then convert back to centimetres)? Good luck Nic ______________________________________________________ Dr Nic Malone www.nicmalone.com ______________________________________________________ On 6 Jun 2007, at 22:57, Beth Holbrook wrote: > Hello Ecologers, > > I am looking for software suggestions.
